I’m a software engineer with more than 18 years of professional experience currently working on Amazon Lab126’s device accessibility engineering team. I joined Amazon after 16 years at Electronic Arts, where I worked as a software engineer on EA Sports central online, Madden NFL and Central accessibility teams. My total vision loss in 2018 inspired a shift from video game development to accessibility work.
At Amazon, I work on developing new features and enhancing existing functionality for assistive technologies like the VoiceView screen reader, which empowers disabled customers to more fully explore and enjoy Amazon products like the Echo family of devices.
I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM with a B. Sc. In computer science, and currently live in the Los Angeles area with my wife Iliana, also a native El Pasoan who is assistant managing editor for sports and executive sports editor at the Los Angeles Times.
